BLUE SERIES

These series of portraits were created in response and inspired by the Book “Endurance” by Alfred Lansing, a compilation of firsthand accounts of Sir. Earnest Shackleton’s 1914 Imperial trans Antarctic Expedition. The descriptions of the absolute beauty and the uncontrollable savage nature of the environment these men and their dogs endured, engulfed my mind.

The ice and snow form a beautiful desolation, the pristine blank canvas gives way to hues of deep cerulean blue. The ebb and flow of the pack ice reminding us that nothing is permanent, and everything may change just as easily as the wind shifting direction. Rendering the space between two people, capturing gestalt with colors found in the descriptions of the ice, forever freezing a moment of fellow explorers onto a canvas.

HAUNT.
